The work of engineers is often overlooked because their work is often hard to explain in layman's terms. Therefore, the general public cannot appreciate the engineers' work. One challenge engineers face is the ability to break down complicated concepts into small, digestible bits for the masses to understand.

Based by the article, it first states how poor communication in organisations has resulted in massive losses monetary. From a 2008 whitepaper, it was estimated that poor communication and misunderstandings cost businesses US$37 Billion in the US and UK. Another whitepaper from the Project Management Institute's Pulse research further strengthens the case, stating that for every US$ 1 Billion spent on a project, US$75 million is at risk due to ineffective communication.  The article continues, giving a picture of how critical thinking correlates with communication.
